Fundraising Dinner & Karaoke
|
 |
Hey dudes and doodads!
This Thursday's meeting will not really be a meeting 'cause we're having a fundraising dinner at Great Mex Grill off of Atherton and Bellflower and going karaoking afterwards! Y'all better be hungry for some great tasting Mexican food to satisfy your hunger! What's the fundraising dinner for? It's to raise money for our VSA to pay for events such as the Gameshow Pyramid, VCN and many other events that has yet to come your way. We're pretty much raising money for YOU! Some come out, enjoy some delicious Mexican cuisine and sing a song or two with your fellow LB VSAers =)
(We'll promise not to sing so horribly)
Carpools will be provided, just meet promptly at 5 at USU-306 =)

Rose Pageant ----{---@
GIRLS!!! Here is your chance to shine on stage!!
Each year VSAUCI puts on Rose Pageant to fundraise for a chosen charity organization. This year is our 8th annual Rose Pageant and it will be on Saturday, November 22nd. The charity is Viet HOPE, which is dedicated to Vietnam's socioeconomic development by support of the education of poor Vietnamese children.
We have already started preparing, but now we need lovely contestants who can be from any school! UCI girls have usually won the crown, last year's included, so help CSULB win the crown this year!
Contestants will model the traditional Vietnamese áo dài and an evening gown. We will NOT have a bathing suit section, so don't be shy ladies and apply NOW!
Applications will be available at the general meeting and on our website www.vsauci.com. Otherwise if you have any questions, you can contact our Rose Pageant Coordinator Huong Nguyen at huongnguyen.uci@gmail.com

crystal cove hiking trip!
|
 |
Hey all you LB VSAers!
Are you guys ready for a good workout, fresh air and a sight to die for? No, we don't mean your board member's faces! Let's go on a hiking trip at Crystal Cove in Newport this coming weekend =)
Enjoy the beautiful and picturesque scenery with your favorite board members. The trip is going to take place this Saturday, October 11 at 8am. We'll be meeting at the UVSA office to set up carpools and get everything together before we head out. As planned, we'll be trekking across 3 miles of the area and have a picnic at the end of the hike around 3pm. The cost per person is $5 - this includes snacks and food for the picnic.
By the way, this event is strictly for LB VSAers. We apologize to those who are not from CSULB, maybe next time! =)
So here's the recap:
Where: Crystal Cove, South of Newport Beach
When: October 11, 2008, from 8am to 3pm
What: 3 mile hike & a bountiful picnic
Fee: $5 per person

Thank you to all who came out to our first general meeting yesterday! It was a huge success and we can't thank you enough for the support. Keep up the spirit and keep the heritage alive! =)
The turnout was greater than we expected. We apologize to those who weren't able to grab some grub, those who dealt with the heat and those who weren't able to manuever through the crowd.
Thank you again!
See you all in 2 weeks, October 2, 2008 (same place, same time)

VCN DIRECTORS
|
 |
Are you an aspiring director? Do you have a flare for creating and administering film/play projects? If so, you can be the next director for CSULB VSA's upcoming VCN!! =)
What's VCN? It's Vietnamese Culture Night. The night that VSA boad and its members put on the biggest show of the year about the Vietnamese culture, history, dance, etc.
For those who've seen last year's or the previous years' VCN, did you enjoy it? What did you like and not like? Do you have any new ideas that can be incorporated into this year's VCN?
Please let any one of LB VSA's board members know as soon as poosible if you're interested in directing VCN this year! =)
Hope to hear from all of you guys soon. =)
